After the flood of 1862 the Lehigh & Susquehanna Railroad extended from White Haven to a connection with the LV downstream of Mauch Chunk. A large rail-to-canal transfer terminal was erected one mile eastbound of the Turn Hole (the name Glen Onoko was still 15 years in the future). The LC&N named the location Coalport. This facility included two coal yards, an engine service area, and a large tract excavated for a slack-water canal loading basin. |
