MAYBROOK ENGINE TERMINAL AND HUMP CLASSIFICATION YARD
The New York, New Haven & Harford Railroad's New York Maybrook Terminal was the L&NE's eastern terminus. The facility had been erected by the NYNH&H during 1912 and replaced a smaller interchange yard at Campbell Hall. Maybrook was also the western terminus of the NYNH&H and the eastern terminus of the Lehigh & Hudson River Railway. It was not uncommon to see equipment from the CNJ (running out time on the L&HR) and the ERIE Railroad at Maybrook. Prior to the destruction of the railroad bridge across the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie, Maybrook was hailed as the rail Gateway to New England. In this view one of the L&HR huge 90 class 2-8-0s sits in the company of a NYNY&H ALCO FA-FB-FA  lash-up. - circa 1948 - Lud A. Larzelere/William T. Greenberg collection
